IPL Photorejuvenation

IPL Photorejuvenation is an excellent treatment for a variety of skin concerns. It is minimally invasive, well tolerated without an anesthetic, doesn't require recovery time and is relatively inexpensive.

How it works

Based on your skin type and the skin problem, an appropriate filter option is selected in a handheld unit. The light energy emitted from the IPL is able to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun-damage, freckles, blotchiness and redness. IPL can also treat unsightly veins, rosacea, and broken capillaries.

The light energy emitted from the IPL unit penetrates the skin to a precise depth. The energy is then absorbed by the hemoglobin (red) or by the melanosomes (brown), disrupting the cells which contain these substances. The body then gradually clears the pigments from the body.

Photorejuvenation provides long-term improvement of complexion and skin texture, with only the slightest interruption in your busy lifestyle.

How many treatments will I need?

Five sessions spaced three weeks apart are normally required for optimal results but you may see the results after just one 30 minute session. Larger treatment areas may take longer. Consult with a South Island physician to determine the number of treatments best for you.
